Centre for Climate
Resilience and Sustainability

The Centre for Climate Resilience and Sustainability works at the intersection of science, policy, and community action to address climate change impacts. It develops data driven, inclusive, and locally grounded solutions that strengthen ecosystems, livelihoods, and institutions for a resilient and sustainable future.

Climate Risk Assessment and Modelling

Using advanced analytical tools, including satellite-based observations and socio-economic models, to identify vulnerabilities and prioritize adaptive responses.

Resilient Communities and Ecosystems

Strengthening local institutions and natural systems through participatory adaptation planning, ecosystem-based approaches, and traditional ecological knowledge.

Low-Carbon
Development

Promoting renewable energy integration, energy efficient technologies, and sustainable infrastructure to reduce emissions and enhance green transitions.

Capacity Building and Knowledge Dissemination

Conducting workshops, training, and stakeholder dialogues to mainstream climate information into planning and policy frameworks.

About the Program

The Centre for Climate Resilience and Sustainability (CCRS) is dedicated to building systemic resilience in communities, ecosystems, and institutions facing the escalating impacts of climate change. The Centre works at the intersection of science, policy, and grassroots action — combining data-driven research with participatory solutions that empower people and ecosystems to adapt sustainably.

In an era marked by extreme weather events, resource stress, and socio-economic vulnerabilities, the Centre serves as a hub for innovative climate strategies that integrate environmental, technological, and socio-economic dimensions of resilience.

Significance of the Program

India, particularly states like Bihar, is increasingly experiencing the complex interplay of climate extremes, environmental degradation, and development challenges. Bihar’s climate vulnerability stems from recurring floods, heat stress, droughts, and degradation of natural resources that affect agriculture, health, and livelihoods.

The CCRS recognizes these challenges as both threats and opportunities — opportunities to reimagine growth pathways that are low-carbon, inclusive, and regenerative. By aligning with India’s National Action Plan on Climate Change (NAPCC) and Bihar’s State Action Plan on Climate Change (SAPCC), the Centre supports sub-national actions that translate global climate ambitions into local transformation.
