About the Program

The Centre for Community Development Practices (CCDP) is dedicated to empowering communities to become active agents of change in their own development journeys. The Centre focuses on strengthening local capacities, promoting inclusive participation, and facilitating grassroots-led planning and implementation.

By combining participatory learning, social innovation, and evidence-based practices, the CCDP ensures that development is not just for the people but with the people. It acts as a bridge between community aspirations and institutional mechanisms, helping improve quality of life, social equity, and resilience against environmental and economic shocks.

Significance of the Program

In India—and particularly in Biharcommunity-led development has emerged as a cornerstone for sustainable progress. The diverse social fabric, rural economy, and environmental vulnerabilities in India demand locally tailored solutions that are inclusive and participatory.

The CCDP addresses these needs by enabling grassroots governance, women’s empowerment, and youth-driven innovation. It complements government initiatives such as the National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM), Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana, and Bihar’s Gram Panchayat Development Plan (GPDP), ensuring that state and national policies resonate with the real needs of communities on the ground.
